What is Building Biology?

Urban Pulse Consulting is currently focused on electromagnetic fields, however it is considered important to identify that this is a field of study associated with Building Biology. The Building Biology (Bau Biologie) industry commenced in Germany in the 1970s, with Professor Anton Schneider establishing the first training institution, the Institute for Building Biology and Ecology.

In short, Building Biology is scientifically based and investigates the health hazards which are generated within, and by, the built environment. These health hazards may be generated by anything from chemicals in building materials and households products to noxious gases, dust mites, allergens, mould, contaminated drinking water, geopathic stress and electromagnetic fields.

A Building Biologist works with persons to identify hazards and educate occupants about the health hazards that may be found in a building, recommendations would also be made to address potential adverse effects.

The Australasian Society of Building Biologists (ASBB) are focused on being leaders in environmental health and it is hoped that as a member of (ASBB) Katrina and Urban Pulse Consulting will one day be able to offer services that pertain to all aspects of Building Biology. However for now Electromagnetic Fields is the focus field as I am passionate about highlighting the concerns, and helping people address the constant exposure to electromagnetic fields we face in a world where electricity and technology is everywhere.
